Each year, Kenyans celebrate the seventh day – historically as a symbol of Kenya’s struggle for democracy and civil rights.

In 2025, the celebrations turned into darkness, with videos and witnesses showing a state of chaos and direct shooting.

There were also people wearing a barrier in cars without any markings, allegedly targeting and shooting the protesters.

According to Advocate Whome Thuku, Gachara collapsed after being shot in Likii Street, and his friends ran to help him quickly, sure he had only been injured in the leg – but now the injury was deadly.
