Kenya Power issues blackout notice affecting parts of 5 counties on July 7

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions for Monday, July 7, 2025, in various parts of the country to allow for essential maintenance on the national electricity network.

In a public statement shared via their official customer service X handle on Sunday, July 5, 2025, the utility company said the outages are necessary to improve the reliability and quality of power supply.

“The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (7th July 2025). The interruption is part of network maintenance.” the X post read.

Affected customers were urged to prepare accordingly and check the latest updates via Kenya Power’s outage schedule portal.

Affected counties and areas

In Nandi County, residents in and around Mosoriot Centre, Kokwet will experience interruptions from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Areas affected include Mbelekneya, Mosoriot Primary, Itigo, Kamzee, Mutwot, Keben, Kokwet, Birbiret, Ndonyo Ngara, Koitelel University, Lamaywe, Nduruoto, and surrounding customers.

In Kisii County, parts of Masimba and Ramasha will be without power between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm Affected areas include Masimba Market, Masimba Secondary, Ramasha Water Pump, Kiomiti Secondary School, Maweko Village, and nearby residents.

In Nyeri County, a broad area around Gikumbo and Ihwagi will experience a full-day outage from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm The outage affects numerous villages and schools, including Karura, Kiamwangi, Kiarithaini, Gathumbi, Unjiru, Kihuro, Gikumbo Market, Safaricom and Airtel Boosters, among others.

In Kirinyaga County, the Difathers and Ichangi areas will also be affected from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Key areas listed include Difathers Market, Kamunyange, Togonye Primary, Kajiji Market, Kathiriku Market, Ichangi Village, Oriental Hotel, Karuangi Village, Mugambaciura and their surroundings.

In Tana River County, several locations within Maungu will experience power cuts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm The entire zones of Itinyi, Kisimeni, Bungule, Kiteghe, Kasigua, Jora, and Makwasinyi are expected to be impacted.
