Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has issued a stark warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying he risks arrest next.
Sudi’s remarks came from a video posted on X on Saturday, July 5, 2025, amid rising political tensions after Gachagua accused President William Ruto of targeting the Mt. Kenya region.
“Wamunyoro naona umeenda incitement yako ya kawaida, umesema ati Susan ameomba Rais ati washike nani, sijui Mbarire ameomba Rais ashike nani. Hapana, hawa ndio walipanga demonstrations, ukiwa wewe ndio financier ya hiyo mambo yote ilifanyika. So wacha hiyo unasema ati sijui wamepangiwa kisiasa, sio siasa. Baada ya hao, ni wewe tunashika. Huwezi ukatoa pesa ya kuharibu mali ya watu kwa sababu ya siasa. Huwezi kuwa ukiongea kila siku hate, na kuchochea wananchi, na kuchoma police station.. hiyo ni nchi gani hiyo, haitakuwa hii nchi. So jua baada ya hawa ni wewe unashikwa next,” Sudi said in a mix of Kiswahili and English.
Translation: “I see that Wamunyoro you’ve gone into your regular incitement. You said Susan asked the President who we should we arrest’ and Mbarire asked the President whom to arrest. No. These are the people who planned the demonstrations; you as the financier of all that happened. So stop saying you don’t know it is politically planned. After those others, it is you we will arrest. You cannot release money to destroy people’s property because of politics. You cannot speak hate every day, incite citizens, and burn police stations…. It cannot be this country. So know that after them, you are next to be arrested.”

Gachagua versus Ruto narrative
The timing of Sudi’s warning adds fuel to a political firestorm that began when Gachagua, speaking at his aunt’s burial in Nyeri, claimed that President Ruto summoned police commanders at State House to persecute the Mt. Kenya community. Gachagua stated that 92 per cent of more than 400 arrests in the area were politically motivated and targeted mainly at young people, naming National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah as complicit.
This came as Gachagua admitted he had once trusted Ruto but now regretted ignoring his aunt’s warnings that Ruto would harm him, his children, and their community. “She warned me that Ruto would first persecute me… It has come to pass,” he said.

Sudi’s statement counters Gachagua’s narrative, casting him as an agitator rather than a victim. Sudi claims Gachagua financed and incited the recent protests, urging him to stop spreading hatred and chaos.
“You cannot speak hate every day… and burn police stations,” he scolded.
