Rhyan Malulu, a youth leader, has spoken out about the mysterious case of Ndiang’ui Kinyagia, a fellow youth whose recent reappearance has sparked widespread speculation.
In a candid interview in a TV interview on Friday, July 4, 2025, Malulu expressed relief that Ndiangui is alive.
“It would have been another story if things had turned out differently,” he said.
However, he stressed that only Ndiangui and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) know the truth about what happened during his absence.
Malulu highlighted the uncertainty surrounding Ndiangui’s situation, questioning whether he was in hiding or detained by the DCI.
“Kenya is so big,” he said, suggesting it’s possible for someone to vanish, especially in remote areas like northern Kenya, where one might feel “not in Kenya” at all.
He acknowledged the power of modern technology but argued that individuals determined to disappear can still find ways to evade detection, even for years.
“You can actually hide,” Malulu insisted, citing the possibility of fleeing to neighbouring countries or secluded regions.
Ndiangui’s mystery
The case has stirred debate, particularly due to an affidavit linked to Ndiangui’s reappearance. Malulu raised concerns about its implications, suggesting Ndiangui may have been coerced into signing it.
“It’s something that can haunt him later,” he warned, noting the legal weight of sworn statements.
He urged Ndiangui to share his story once he is free, as only he can clarify whether he was hiding or held by authorities. Malulu also called for unity among Kenyan youth, regardless of political affiliations.
“We should talk as one,” he said, emphasising the need for solidarity when addressing issues affecting young people.
He lamented the speculation surrounding Ndiangui’s case, admitting that outsiders, including himself, are merely guessing without concrete facts.
“We are just speaking on their behalf,” he said.
As the public awaits answers, Malulu’s remarks underscore the complexity of Ndiangui’s situation. Was he evading capture in Kenya’s vast landscapes, or was he in the custody of the DCI?
For now, Malulu believes the truth lies solely with Ndiangui. He hopes that once the legal proceedings conclude, Ndiangui will share his side of the story, shedding light on a case that has gripped the nation’s attention.
