Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse has revisited his attack on impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking in Malindi on Friday, July 4, 2025, Mutuse cited the former second in command for Gachagua sidelining the small community while in power with his talk of shares.
“You know that the president had a certain deputy, whom when your MP Amina Mnyazi used to lobby for development in this region, he used to say that Malindi votes were very few and that this region did not vote for the president, so you don’t have shares,” he told the gathering.
He further chided the Democracy for Citizens Party leader over his newly adopted cousin’s slogan.
“He recently came here and claimed you are his cousin. He only calls others his cousins after he has been ousted from office, whereas he used to sideline you while in power,” the MP who sponsored the impeachment bill that proved the last straw for the former DP stated.

“It’s the reason I decided to take the bold step. I told myself that if we continue with him, many regions will lag behind. I took that bill to parliament so that people of Malindi and other regions would get the development they deserve. Was it a bad or a good move?” He posed.
Mutuse’s remarks come after Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana also railed at the former DP, terming him a divisive figure during his tenure as the second deputy president.

Translated: “We have now embraced Kindiki as a good neighbour who has visited us frequently. He is also a fitting and proper DP. The former was a shame of a president. He used to claim and say that the coastal region is not in his plans, and so on. His plans were only shares of the people from his backyard,” he stated.
“It is the reason why we said we will control him,(Mwengi) Mutuse came up with a motion that got him impeached. We want to build a Kenya that is united, but he (Wamunyoro) wanted to chain us with chains of tribalism. It is why we are now united and heading in one direction as coastal leaders,” the former Garsen MP stated.
