Veteran Ugandan reggae and dancehall artiste Moses Ssali, widely known as Bebe Cool, has fellow musicians, especially men, to build and maintain stable romantic relationships, citing them as vital anchors in the often high-pressure music industry.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Friday, July 4, 2025, Bebe Cool said that in the music industry, a musician is safer with a partner, someone who can guide them and help keep them grounded.

The Zuena hitmaker explained that having a partner helps protect against temptation, noting that whether it’s a female artiste needing a boyfriend or a male artiste needing a partner, having someone stable gives accountability.

“In the industry, you are safer with a partner, someone to guide you and keep you grounded,” Bebe Cool said.

“First, you have someone to fear because we get too many temptations; too much is happening, be it a female artiste. You need a boyfriend or a guy to be involved with to guide you, someone you answer to.”

Money and romance

He further stated that as an artiste, the best thing to do is to have a partner and to work on that relationship repeatedly, explaining that once someone makes money and starts a relationship, they might feel the partner did not earn it, and that could lead to mistreatment.

In addition, Bebe Cool explained that more male artists would be saved if they were in stable relationships because their partners help shape their image while the men remain focused on making money and realising their dreams.

“The best thing to do is to have a partner and practise that relationship over and over because you do not want to make money and then you get a girl then you might feel she didn’t earn it and end up mistreating her,” he said.

“More male artistes would be saved if they were in a stable relationship because the ladies help us to shape the image, as men focus on making the money and the dream come true .”
