One Kirinyaga family has opened up about how their family’s life changed after breaking a shop to steal at the peak of a high school strike.

The family reported that their brother, who is now an adult, began to show signs of mental illness gradually after an incident that he and his friends drew a shop in 1996.

Speaking to Simon Kibe’s Jamba TV, the man’s sister reported that since the incident he failed to care for himself, contaminated his pants and failed to take a shower.

They said he also started eating grass, and he would also give horrible sounds especially at night.

29 years later, the man’s condition worsened, with the family claiming he was trapped after the robbery.

“When my parents were alive they tried to find a shopkeeper and his family to fix my brother’s mental problems, but when they did so they were informed that the man had died, since my parents died we have not sought them anymore,” he said.

The woman said the family had tried to seek the help of pastors and other religious leaders, but her condition had continued to be about 30 years.

On the other hand, the man’s brother narrated that his son, who mentioned him by the name of Kamau who is a mentally ill, also showed such behavior, as he could not speak or work as a four -year -old boy.

“I even thought of changing his name because he had a tendency for our sick brother, but my parents died before I did the process,” the family said.

The stuck family is now seeking help in treating their sick brother and helping him restore some of his abilities.
