Mumias East constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has outlined his ambitious plan for Kenyans should he manage to unseat President William Ruto in 2027.

Speaking during an interview with Oga Obinna on the night of Monday, June 30, 2025, Salasya said that he will amplify what he has done in his constituency at a national level.

According to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker, he has changed the politics of Mumias East from being handout-based to development.

“The way I have saved and changed the politics of Mumias East ambazo zimekuwa za handouts, na nimebadilisha imekuwa ya maendeleo, and no one bothers to ask me for handouts; ikuje sasa huku juu,” Salasya said.

Salasya’s plan

He went ahead to note that once elected, he would lay a foundation and systems that no one would dare tamper with.

The youthful MP argues that as a president, he will make sure that all systems of government are working effectively.

Salasya put emphasis on the three arms of government: the executive, the legislature and the judiciary, which he says will be working effectively under his regime.

“When I become the president, I will lay the foundation and the systems that no one will dare tamper with. We will make sure that the courts are working effectively and no one can interfere with them, parliament is working more effectively, and the executive is doing what it is supposed to be doing,” Salasya said.

Gachagua’s impeachment

He further described the impeachment of the former Deputy President and the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, as a blessing to the nation.

Salasya said that during his tour in Juja, Kiambu County, while promoting his presidential bid, he told residents that the separation of President William Ruto and Gachagua was the greatest thing that had ever happened, describing it as a blessing for Kenyans.

He added that, had the split not occurred, Kenya would have plunged into deeper trouble.

“I told people of Juja when I was in Githurai that the separation of Ruto and Gachagua was the best thing that ever happened, it was a blessing to Kenyans because if it could not have happened, Kenya ingezama,” Salasya claimed.
