A Nairobi businessman lost Ksh999,000 in a brazen daytime robbery just after he left a bank in the Parklands area on Saturday June 28.
Police reports state the man had taken out the money from a bank on First Avenue and put it in an envelope under the passenger seat of his car, which he had parked in the building’s basement. At about 2 p.m., he drove away heading to his house not knowing someone was following him.
As he neared an intersection, a sedan cut him off. Five men sat inside locking eyes with him before two got out, one of whom wore a police uniform and carried a pistol. The robbers struck his head, snatched his car keys, and took the envelope full of cash.
They jumped back into their car and raced off towards Limuru Road leaving the shocked businessman behind. The victim told the police about the robbery later. The police confirmed it happened and started looking into it.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the bank and the scene in hopes of identifying the suspects and bringing them to book.
