Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revisited the talks of his relationship with Orange Democratic Leader Raila Odinga, dismissing possibilities of another political pact with his former Azimio partner.

Speaking in an interview with Kameme TV, Kalonzo shrugged off terming Raila’s move to join William Ruto’s government through the agreement signed on March 7, 2025, as a betrayal.

Betrayal?

“He, Raila, should ask himself the question. You cannot leave your general and surrender like that. Kenyans did not expect it from Raila. Even now, I won’t say it was a betrayal, but he should make a self-reflection of himself,” he added.

On his current relationship with Raila, he said:We don’t meet with him. I am a national leader, and if he reaches me through a call, we can talk. But that is as far as it can get,” he stated. “But to say we can get on a table and make a political arrangement is out of place. I will not say it cannot happen, but at the moment we have our team, and he (Raila) can come and plan himself from the back,” he added.

Supported Raila

Kalonzo, however, expressed his regret that the veteran opposition figure abandoned the liberation struggle while counting the various dangers they braved against Ruto’s governance.

Having supported Raila in three election cycles, Kalonzo has rebuffed any possibilities of him following the former Azimio partners into Ruto’s government.

“We were in Azimio with him and Martha, and I did my part in pushing them. My own supporters came out and helped Raila for a third time even though I was not on the ballot,” he stated.

In 2023, I remember a while back in Pipeline we had ten bullets attempts against us, and we survived. It is why sometimes I feel very bad that you can take that kind of position, and then you suddenly disappear. How can you disappoint such a struggle and spirit,” Kalonzo said while recounting his past struggles with Raila.

“People now think I can be persuaded by Raila to join Ruto. They should forget. I am standing my ground with the people,” he stated.
