Inside Ruto’s meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain

President William Ruto has held a meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain in Seville, where they discussed strategies to deepen cooperation between the two nations.

In a statement after the meeting on Monday, June 30, 2025, Ruto revealed that the meeting focused on collaborating with Spain to explore new avenues for expanding trade and investment and creating more opportunities.

Ruto also revealed that the partnership would focus on the transfer of modern irrigation technologies to strengthen food security.

“We are collaborating with Spain to explore new avenues for expanding trade and investment, creating more opportunities for our people. Our partnership will also include the transfer of modern irrigation technologies to strengthen food security. Held bilateral talks with His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain in Seville, where we discussed deepening cooperation,” Ruto stated.

“His Majesty affirmed Spain’s commitment to supporting regional peace initiatives, strengthening multilateralism, and advancing reforms of the international financial architecture.”

Ruto has also held a meeting with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, where they discussed collaboration in agriculture, livestock development, energy, and mining.

“We are working with Poland to enhance our bilateral relations and foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest. We are expanding our collaboration in agriculture, livestock development, energy, and mining. In Seville, Spain, held bilateral talks with President @AndrzejDuda of Poland at the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development,” Ruto stated.

In another meeting with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali-Radovan, Ruto touted collaboration in labour mobility, renewable energy, and trade and investment.

“Relations between Kenya and Germany remain strong and continue to flourish thanks to mutually beneficial partnerships. We value our collaboration in labour mobility, renewable energy, and trade and investment. Held talks with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali-Radovan, Seville, Spain. Reaffirmed our commitment to positioning Kenya as an attractive investment destination for German investors,” Ruto stated.
