Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has now endorsed Ole Kenta for Narok Governor in the 2027 elections.
During his visit to Narok Town on June 30, where he was welcomed by a jubilant crowd, Gachagua stated that Narok has lacked a firm leader who can champion the rights of the Maa people.
For this reason, Gachagua told the crowd that he wants them to give him Ole Kenta so that he can run for governor under his DCP party in 2027—an announcement that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

He went on to say that he wants them to elect Ole Kenta so he can help return all land belonging to the Maa community that was stolen. According to Gachagua, Narok currently lacks a strong leader like Ole Kenta who can stand up for the people.
“Mnajua huyu Jamaa anaitwa Ole Kenta ni management si management, ni shupavu si shupavu, ile hasara watu wa Narok mmeenda ni kudos mwanaume kama huyu Ole Kenta. Mimi nataka mkikubali huyu Ole Kenta tumsaidie akuwe governor, akuje tisaididiane turudishe mashamba ya wamasai.” Gachagua said.
He described Ole Kenta as a firm leader who cannot be intimidated by the state.
Endorsing Ole Kamwaro
Gachagua also took the opportunity to endorse Ole Kamwaro, who unsuccessfully vied for the Narok North parliamentary seat, expressing confidence that he will win in 2027.
Gachagua noted that Kamwaro lost by a small margin to someone he had personally supported in the past, but now that Kamwaro has his full backing, he believes victory will come easily.
“Mimi Naona watu wa Narok ndio turidishe mashamba yenu nataka mnipatie wanaume Kamili kama mimi, mtanipatia, huyu Ole Kamwaro ndio alirudisha Shambala ya Mau sindio, lakini last time hakupata kwa sababu hakuwa na kura ya jamii yangu. Ole Kamwaro anatosha hatoshi,” Gachagua added.
Gachagua concluded by saying that with leaders like Ole Kenta and Ole Kamwaro, he will join forces with them to ensure that all grabbed land belonging to the Maa people is returned.
“Huyu kenta na ole kamwaro tukishikane na yeye mashamba ya wamasai itarudi,” he concluded.
