President William Ruto has held bilateral talks with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali-Radovan, as part of his official engagements during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, June 30, 2025, Ruto stated that the talks with the German minister focused on strengthening the already robust bilateral relations between Kenya and Germany.
“Held talks with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali-Radovan, Seville, Spain. Reaffirmed our commitment to positioning Kenya as an attractive investment destination for German investors,” he stated.
He emphasised Kenya’s ongoing efforts to attract German investment while highlighting the reforms and partnerships that bolster economic cooperation between the two countries.
“Relations between Kenya and Germany remain strong and continue to flourish thanks to mutually beneficial partnerships. We value our collaboration in labour mobility, renewable energy, and trade and investment,” Ruto added.

Meeting with other dignitaries
While in Seville, Ruto also met with Armenia’s President Vahagn Khachaturyan, where they discussed opportunities to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore partnerships in culture and heritage, taking advantage of Armenia’s rich historical legacy.
“We are strengthening diplomatic ties with Armenia in our efforts to expand opportunities for our citizens. We look forward to a partnership in culture and heritage owing to Armenia’s rich historical legacy,” Ruto mentioned in an earlier statement on his X account.

In addition, Ruto held separate bilateral discussions with Spanish President Pedro Sánchez, focusing on deepening trade, investment, agro-industry, renewable energy, and water management relations.
In a statement, Ruto revealed that the Kenya-Spain partnership also extends to collaboration within the United Nations system, with both countries committed to multilateral solutions for global challenges and UN reforms aimed at enhancing effectiveness.

“Our common commitment to regional and global stability continues to inform our cooperation in peace and security,” he stated.
Fourth International Conference
During the conference, Ruto also participated in the high-level meeting of the 4P (Pact for Prosperity, People, and Planet), where he advocated for continued reforms in international financial systems and innovative development financing approaches.
“The Pact for Prosperity, People, and Planet, commonly known as the 4P, has driven reforms that integrate development and climate action into a single, coherent agenda. It ensures that no country has to choose between ending poverty and protecting the planet. We must sustain this momentum by pushing for bold reforms in the international financial system, and embracing innovative approaches to development financing,” Ruto stated in another message posted on his X account on June 30, 2025.
