Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin has revealed that one of the firearms stolen during the Wednesday, June 25, protests was used to commit crimes in Naivasha.
Addressing the press on Monday, June 30, 2025, DCI Amin disclosed that a rifle that was stolen at Kikuyu Police Station was used to commit robberies on Sunday night, June 29, 2025.
Amin made the revelation while condemning the wanton destruction of property and looting during the protests.

“There was widespread destruction of critical government infrastructure such as Kikuyu Law Courts, Kikuyu government offices, and multiple police stations, including Ol Kalou Police Station, Dagoretti, Gachui Police Post and Kamukunji Police Station among others,” Amin stated.
“Several firearms and police equipment were stolen during attacks, and disturbingly, some of these weapons have already been used to violent robberies last night within the Naivasha Police Station area,” DCI boss revealed.
“The G3 rifle that was stolen from Kikuyu Police Station was used in the commission of robberies within Naivasha Police Station.”
Ferried individuals
Amin acknowledged that while a section of demonstrators came out to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights, a coordinated group with criminal intent infiltrated the protests.
According to Amin, intelligence reports and arrest records show that these individuals had specific instructions to attack government institutions and security installations.
He further revealed that some of the suspects were transported in unmarked vehicles from areas now under investigation by security agencies.
“Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed Amin has issued a firm statement linking the June 25 Gen Z protests to organised criminal activities. In a press briefing, Amin acknowledged that while a section of demonstrators came out to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights, a coordinated group with criminal intent infiltrated the protests.” DCI boss stated.
