Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed has broken his silence regarding the disappearance of X influencer and IT expert Ndiangui Kinyagia, insisting that the influencer is not in police custody.

Addressing the matter on Monday, June 30, 2025, the DCI chief clarified that although Kinyagia is not being held by the authorities, he is currently being treated as a person of interest in an ongoing probe related to what he described as “very inflammatory content” shared on social media.

“He was a person of interest to us after publishing very inflammatory material on social media. I am sure you all saw the posts, which were trending widely,” Amin Mohamed said, referring to the viral content posted through an account believed to belong to Kinyaga.

According to the DCI boss, preliminary investigations revealed that the social media account linked to the contentious posts was registered under the name of the so-called Ndiangui, prompting officers to launch a search at a residence in Kinoo where he was believed to be staying.

“We identified his residence and our officers conducted a search in his apartment in Kinoo, and unfortunately, he was not in. However, during the operation, we recovered an assortment of electronic gadgets which we believe could be useful in our investigations,” Amin Mohamed stated.

He confirmed that an inventory of the seized items was taken on-site and counter-signed by the caretaker of the apartment complex to ensure proper documentation.

“So mine is to confirm to Kenyans that Ndiangui is not under the custody of the National Police Service. He is a person of interest to us, and wherever he is, I urge that he submits himself and surrenders to the nearest police station,” he added.
