Boniface Kariuki: His journey from CBD to bed closet ICU

On June 17, during a Nairobi protest, Boniface Kariuki, a young seller, was shot directly in the head by a police officer.

He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, underwent brain surgery and placed on living machines in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Kariuki’s father, Johah Kariuki, explained bitterly how he found out about his son’s shooting as he continued to inform Kenyans of the cost of the hospital that was increasing daily.

In addition, he revealed that he lost KSh 200,000 donated by Kenyans through his account to assist in medical expenses after being deceived by frauds.

After the incident, police officers involved were arrested – Masinde and Kiprono officers were temporarily removed from the interdICTED and charges were charged against them.

The Boniface family announced on June 29 that doctors announced that he had died in the brain.

Charles Owino claims Boniface Kariuki insulted the officer

Earlier, in an interview on Citizen TV early on June 30, former police spokesman Charles Owino accused Boniface Kariuki of insulting an officer allegedly shooting him.

Owino claimed that if a person listening to the video carefully he would hear the insults that Kariuki abducted the officer, and defended the officer by saying he was an inexperienced young boy.

He also acknowledged that such actions were destroying the image of the police, saying that the officers should also be held accountable.
