President William Ruto He has approved a major change in the leadership of the Kenyan Defense Force.

He has promoted Major General David Kipkemboi Ketter to be a Lieutenant General and appointed him as the new commander of the Kenyan Army.
Ketter replaces Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Chemwaina Tarus, whom the President transferred to the Deputy Chancellor of the National Defense University-Kenya (NDU-K).
Prior to this new position, Lieutenant General Ketter was Deputy Chief of Defense Forces, overseeing workers’ affairs and equipment.
Elsewhere, President Ruto appointed Major General Benard Waliauula to lead the Kenyan Air Force as its new commander.
Waliaula replaces Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed, who retired after serving for 42 years in the army.
Ruto took Waliala from the National Security and Defense Department, where he was the director.
In addition, Brigadier Joel Muriungi M’arimi has been promoted to Major General and was appointed head of the Kenyan Military Academy, where he had previously led a military vehicle.
Brigadier Joyce Chelang’at Sitienei was also promoted to Major General and appointed Deputy Chancellor of the Military Studies and Strategies in NDU-K.
Initially, he was the Director of the International Peace Aid Center.
