Mumias East constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has announced plans to marry in 2026, just a year before the next general elections in which he will be seeking a presidential seat.

In a candid and humorous statement made via his official Instagram account in the wee hours of Sunday, June 29, 2025, the youthful legislator opened up about the loneliness that comes with public life, declaring his firm intention to settle down next year.

According to Salasya, every man deserves a woman, no matter how influential they can be.

Incomplete man

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term MP argues that he also reaches a point where he feels incomplete without a woman.

“No matter how influential you are, every man deserves a woman in life … Inafikanga mahali pia mimi hufeel I am lacking that woman to be next to me at night 😄 🤣 😂. I must marry next year now, maisha si poa; it’s lonely here,” Salasya stated.

However, this is not the first time Salasya has opened up about finding someone to settle down with.

Salasya’s ideal woman

In October 2022, Salasya disclosed that he is looking for a woman to settle down with.

He noted that his ideal woman must be a young and God-fearing woman.

He also noted that she must be willing to support his political venture and be able to talk to people during vote-hunting missions.

“I am just looking for a very prayerful woman, a very young girl, a focused girl, a supportive girl, a presentable girl, and someone who must be able to speak to the people in the countryside. Are you willing to join me? We go look for votes,” Salasya said.

Salasya, who noted that he was not in a hurry to marry, also stated that he could not be convinced otherwise during his search for a wife.

“I’m an exposed man. Kwani naeza pelekwa pelekwa hivi. I am an MP, and you know I have convinced people that I am a very intelligent person. I am strong,” he added.
