Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has stated that he will be the most loved president the country has ever had since independence.
In a statement on June 27, 2025, Salasya said that his presidency will listen to the voices of Kenyans.
According to the flamboyant Kenyan parliamentarian known for his social media antics and populist rhetoric, his presidency will also respect the youth, children, and the elderly.
“The respect that KDF has gained from Gen Z is the kind of respect and honour I am bringing to the governance of this country, where the voices of people shall be heard and acted on.”
“I will respect the youth, the elderly, and even children as the president. I will be the most loved president Kenya has ever had since independence,” he stated.

presidential bid
The 35-year-old declared his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election, adding his name to an increasingly crowded field of aspirants.
The announcement, made on Monday morning, April 28, 2025, showed the growing ambition among younger politicians to challenge the country’s established political elite.
“Fellow Kenyans, after deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the state of our nation, I, Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Elections,” he declared.

He pledged to address the economic struggles of ordinary Kenyans, particularly the youth, saying he has been motivated to vie for the seat due to a “profound desire to offer bold, transformative leadership that will reposition our great nation for industrial growth, economic empowerment, and social justice.”
“This movement will embody the dreams and aspirations of a new Kenya: a Kenya where opportunity is not a privilege for the few but for all of us,” Salasya stated.
Since he entered Parliament in 2022, he has been gaining attention for his unfiltered style and grassroots appeal, though critics question his readiness for the presidency now.
