In a direct interview with NTV Kenya on Friday, June 27, Gachagua broke silently against allegations from leaders of Kenya first and ODM who linked him to the chaos.

The procession On June 25, organized to be killed by young people killed during a protest against the 2024 financial bill, erupted in more than 24 counties.

Protesters poured into the streets demanding that the government be held accountable, better living conditions, and ending police violence.

The protests were largely organized by Gen Z activists through digital platforms and were marked by their dedicated, divided nature.

Where was Gachagua during the June 25 protest?

Gachagua, who is leading the Democracy Party for the Citizens’ Party (DCP) and has recently made himself a voice of opposition, said he intentionally refrained from the protest.

The former DP explained that he was tracking events on TV until the media was ordered to stop the direct transmission.

Gachagua emphasized his belief that there was a need for Gen Z and other Kenyan citizens to seek justice for the exchange of governments and security agencies.

“I was just here at home. I was at my house here all day. I was watching on TV until they stopped the stream. He revealed.

Why did Gachagua avoid the protest of Gen Z?

He further explained that the Gen Z movement, from the beginning, called on political leaders and chiefs to stay away from their reasons.

According to him, their message was clear: they did not want to be elected or claimed by any political wing.

“First of all, during the 2024 protest, Gen Z asked us, the leaders, the elders to stop the protest. And that’s what it should be because they don’t want to be owned by anyone because they are not directed by anyone. He said.

The former Deputy Ras dismissed allegations that he had sponsored the chaos, saying that his presence on the streets would simply stimulate the allegations.

“I think if I had come from the streets on Wednesday, it would have given the reputation of those ridiculous allegations that I was the one who sponsor Gen Z. I intentionally stopped myself because Gen Z wanted us to continue. Again, I have nothing to do with it,” He said.

Gachagua held that although he supports young people morally and believes in their movements, he had no role in mobilizing, organizing or funding the protest.

He praised the movement led by Gen Z for not relying on neutrality, lack of ethnicity, and the running of issues, citing the civil patriotic efforts to restore Kenya to the right path.

“I am not their leader, I am not their sponsor, I just support them, you know, I support their argument. he added.
