Wednesday, June 25, was intended to mark one year since the protest against the Finance Bill 2024 that resulted in the deaths of many young people and others.

How many people died during the Gen Z protest?

The protests took place in major cities such as Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, EldoretBungoma and Nyeri.

As expected, thousands of young people appeared on the streets and sang anti -government songs William Ruto.

According to a Citizen TV report, 11 people died, 400 were injured, while 61 were arrested across the country.

The deaths caused by gunshot wounds, were reported in the areas of Matuu, Emali, Ongata RongaiEmbakasi, Juja, Kikuyu, Molo, Ola Kalou and Ngara.

The authority to investigate the police performance (IPOA) in its report said eight people died, with 207 injured, including police officers.

IPOA said it had initiated an investigation, considering that police allegedly shot some of the dead.

The authority has asked Kenyans to provide any information that can help identify the shooter.

“The IPOA monitoring force recorded the use of excessive force and variety for police officers, including firearms, tear gas, light water, whips, bribes, and other measures. Police officers hid their illegal identity.”

“Thus, IPOA has conducted preliminary investigations in various relevant areas and will speed up a case investigation where most of the forces were recorded during the management of the protest public order,”
