Mortician and renowned TikTok creator Ann Mwangangi has revealed that she was compelled to conceal her personal contact information after an increasing number of young Kenyans began inundating her phone with protest-related messages and calls.

Speaking during a TikTok live session on the night of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the viral mortuary attendant disclosed that she had originally displayed her number on her page for other purposes but became alarmed when Kenyans immediately repurposed it for unrelated reasons.

“I had placed that number there for other purposes, but I was forced to remove it because you all started using it for different reasons,” she stated.

Ann, who rose to social media prominence for advertising her body presentation services and had previously dressed high-profile deceased TikTok personalities such as Brian Chira, explained that what began as dark humour swiftly transformed into an overwhelming flood of calls, messages, and even M-Pesa deposits.

She said that she had become an unexpected sensation on the video-sharing platform due to her fans and revealed that the sheer volume of calls compelled her to withdraw the number.

“You are the ones who made me trend wherever I put the number; you kept calling me too much. The number was there for other matters,” she added.

Message to Kenyans

The revelation emerged mere hours after she addressed Kenyans who had been tagging her with wishes suggesting that she would be the one to dress their bodies should they perish in the protests.

Ann responded by expressing her gratitude for the affection shown by Kenyans but insisted that Kenya still requires its youth even after the June 25 demonstrations.

Mwangangi acknowledged that the messages implying people wished for her to prepare their bodies were a sign of love, but she urged optimism and survival through the protests.

“It is an honour to be deemed worthy of serving you, my dear ones, but the time has not yet come — this country still needs us after the 25th,” she wrote on her TikTok handle, @Annmwangangi2019.

Some of the most absurd responses she had received came from certain Gen Z individuals who requested that she ensure their bodies were placed beside charging ports, while others insisted that they wanted her to lay their bodies apart from others, emphasising that they were intensely antisocial.

Here are some of those comments:

@NatashaLucy said, “Please make sure that when the time comes, my body is placed right next to a charging port; I want to stay connected even after.”

@JamesKariuki commented, “Ann, I am very much antisocial, so kindly ensure that my body is laid away from others. I would prefer solitude even in the afterlife.”

@MimiMwangi wrote, “I find this hilarious, but honestly, I would love it if you could keep my body close to a charger. It is the little things that matter most.”
