Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned of a planned plot to infiltrate and disrupt the Gen Z-led protests set for Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

He has accused the state of preparing tactics meant to provoke confusion and chaos during the demonstrations.

Speaking on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, during the official launch of the People’s Restorative Justice Commission at Ufungamano House, Kalonzo revealed that over 5,500 goons have been stationed at City Hall with instructions to interfere with the protests.

He further stated that 5,000 police officers are planning to change clothing with the goons to blend in and confuse protesters.

“They want to cause confusion. You won’t know who is who,” Kalonzo said, pushing back against President Ruto’s earlier remarks that the opposition has no agenda.

Protesters urged to keep peace

Despite the warnings, Kalonzo urged protesters to remain peaceful and disciplined. “Let tomorrow’s protest be peaceful. Let us honour the lives lost last year with calm and unity,” he appealed.

He reaffirmed support for the youth-led movement, saying the commission had been formed because of the state’s continued failure to protect human rights, equity, and constitutional values.

Commission not in vain

“This commission is not in vain. It exists because institutions established under the Constitution have failed to uphold justice, equity, democracy, and the rule of law,” Kalonzo said.

He declared that Kenyans are still waiting for answers on key issues such as the fake fertiliser scandal and the controversial Adani energy deal, adding that the People’s Restorative Justice Commission would provide a platform for truth, healing, and accountability.

The planned protests on Wednesday, June 25, are intended to honour young Kenyans who lost their lives during last year’s mass actions against the controversial Finance Bill.

Kalonzo also thanked the international community for its firm position on human rights in Kenya, saying, “We will not allow you to walk away scot-free. The world is watching.”
