A foreigner who goes by the TikTok username cliff2381, has gone viral in Kenya after a Nairobi Gen Z came to his aid when he lost his passport.
The elderly man has now opened up about the bizarre chain of events that led to his misfortune and how he ended up stranded in the city.
Speaking on Monday, June 23, 2025, via a video shared on the page of the Gen Z host known on TikTok as @thithad3, Cliff recounted that he had travelled to Kenya to spend his retirement years, only to be conned shortly after arriving.
“Hello, habari citizens of Nairobi, of Kenya. Today I want to tell you my story. I am just a regular guy. I came here from the US one month ago. I retired, and I was looking for a good place to retire,” he said.
Cliff went on to explain that although his initial plan was to retire in Tanzania, he made a last-minute decision to settle in Kenya instead, claiming that the country has more beautiful women.
“I thought about East Africa and chose between Tanzania and Kenya, and I picked Kenya because it has the most beautiful women in the world. I came here to be with a woman, and I lived with her,” he said.

However, just four days into living together, the woman vanished with all his belongings.
“I came home and found that she had moved out. The only thing left there was my bag. I had bags with money. The money was gone, and the passport was gone,” he added.
Cliff revealed that after discovering the theft, he wandered the streets of Nairobi confused and hopeless—until he met Thithad, who promised to help him trace his passport, on the condition that Cliff would buy him a drink.
“I walked to a grocery store, not knowing what to do. I met someone who told me he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs and that he would help me get my passport. I bought him a drink, and we sat down and talked. He told me he is working on it and that he has friends who can help,” Cliff narrated.
Since meeting the American man on June 19, 2025, Thithad has continued to share updates and requests for help through his Instagram and TikTok pages, urging fellow Kenyans to help Cliff recover his missing documents and belongings.
It is not, however, clear if the foreigner is pulling a publicity stunt or indeed he lost his passport as he has claimed in several videos.
