The Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has offered a Ksh100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators who raped and killed an 18-year-old girl in Mwiki- Phase 3.
In a statement on Monday, June 23, 2025, Passaris has directed the public to report to the Officer Commanding station at Mwiki police station or reach out to her privately through social media.
“I am offering a KSh 100,000 reward for any credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators behind Abigeal’s rape and murder. Please report to OCS Mwiki Police Station or DM me confidentially,” he stated.
Abigael Wina Wanjiku, was raped and brutally murdered on Thursday night, June 19, 2023.
She sustained multiple stab wounds and head injuries in what residents are calling a horrific and heartless attack.

According to Kasarani Sub-county Criminal Investigative Officer (SCCIO), Abigael was stabbed five times in the stomach and once in the neck using a knife that was recovered at the scene.
She was also hit on the head with a blunt object, suspected to be a cooking pan, which was found at the crime scene, too.
Mwiki protests
Following the incident, residents took to the streets in protest, blocking roads and demanding justice, which led to the death of Joshua Steven Maina, who was shot by police.
Detectives have launched investigations to trace those behind the murder, while the victim’s body was moved to Kenyatta University hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Further, Passaris condemned the killings when she visited the two grieving families, Wanjiku Muchoki, mother of Abigael Wanjiku, and Pastor Samuel Kungu, father of Joshua Steven Maina.
“Abigael was just 18. She was raped and brutally murdered, her body bearing multiple stab wounds. The following day, a peaceful demonstration demanding justice was infiltrated by goons who caused chaos, and in the midst of it, police opened fire. Joshua was shot and killed. Both postmortems are underway. We hope the bullet recovered from Joshua’s body will identify the officer responsible. They must face the law,” she stated.
His death has sparked renewed protests, with residents taking to the streets for a second consecutive day.
Protesters had lit bonfires and blocked the Kasarani–Mwiki road with stones and debris, condemning both Abigael’s murder and the fatal police shooting.
