Media personality Oga Obinna has declared that he will personally take part in the planned Wednesday, June 25, 2025, protests, expressing deep frustration over what he termed police brutality and the government’s ongoing indifference towards the grievances of Kenyan youth.

Speaking from his car on Monday, June 23, 2025, Obinna accused the authorities of turning a blind eye to public outcry and protecting rogue officers who continue to unleash violence on unarmed citizens, contrary to their constitutional mandate.

“Yaani saa hii gava inatudiglo inashangaa hao warazi wanadai aje. Hao warazi wanadai mapolisi waache kutuua, mapolisi wapate constitution na wanafaa kuwa wanaserve na kuprotect,” he said.

Loosely translated to: “Right now, the government is ignoring us and pretending not to understand what the youth are demanding. The youth are simply asking for the police to stop killing us, respect the Constitution, and do what they are meant to—serve and protect.”

He noted that police conduct has regressed, with officers acting like a force rather than a public service, and warned that citizens are no longer willing to remain silent.

“Lakini wanarudi kwa police force. Mnanielewa. Sasa maze nakwambia Wednesday tunawadiglo wanatuglo,” he added.

Loosely translated to: “But they are reverting to a police force mentality. Do you understand me? I am telling you, on Wednesday, we are going to ignore them the way they have ignored us.”

Obinna demanded accountability for the lives lost in the hands of police officers during past protests, referencing the killing of protester Albert Ojwang and others, whom he claimed were known to the community.

In the same breath, Obinna spoke of another police brutality incident, which he revealed occurred in Mwiki, and warned authorities that the officers involved are also well known.

“Tunataka hao mapolisi wameua wenzetu waningie online na tumejua ni nani. Hao wa Ojwang naskia tena hao wengine wameenda pande ya Mwiki tena tunawajua,” he stated.

Loosely translated to: “We want those police officers who killed our people to be exposed online. We already know who they are. The ones involved in Ojwang’s killing, and even those responsible for others who were killed in Mwiki—we know them.”
