Digital content creator and influencer Maureen Waititu has unveiled a jaw-dropping new look after embarking on a weight loss journey that has seen her shed an incredible 27 kilograms in 13 months.
Maureen first shared her weight loss journey back in 2022, and her transformation is not just physical but also a testament to her resilience and commitment to health and well-being.
Talking to her official Instagram account on Monday, June 23, 2025, the influencer, who has been open about her journey, shared before-and-after photos in the same outfit that highlight her physical transformation.
“Thus far, I have come 27 kgs down in 13 months,” she wrote.
The influencer’s transformation is a powerful narrative of determination, health advocacy, and personal growth, serving as an inspiration to many on similar paths.
Weight loss journey
Maureen’s decision to embark on a weight loss journey was driven by health concerns exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic. She faced challenges such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis, which were intensified by weight gain.
Despite attempts at traditional methods like dieting and exercise, she found limited success, leading her to explore medical interventions.
In October 2022, Maureen opted for the intragastric balloon procedure at Nairobi Bariatric Centre. This non-invasive treatment involves placing a saline-filled silicone balloon in the stomach to promote a feeling of fullness, thereby aiding in weight loss.
Maureen, after the procedure in 2023, disclosed that she had lost over 22 kilograms in four months and emphasised the importance of discipline post-procedure.
“I am sure people who have always known me from way before have always seen me as this fit girl with a slim figure, until, like, 2 years ago. Something happened to my weight. I ended up adding so much weight that I gained over 30 kgs, and I did a procedure about 5 months ago, that is October 31st at Nairobi Bariatric. Since then, I have lost over 20kgs, and I still have about 10 more to go,” she said.
