The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has flagged a social media poster claiming the party’s official launch function will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
The newly formed outfit took to its social media pages on Monday, June 23, 2025, to mark the poster claiming that its official launch has been slated for June 25th, a date coinciding with a planned nationwide protest by Kenya’s Gen Z population in remembrance of the youth killed during last year’s anti-government demonstrations.
According to the misleading poster, the function slated for a Nairobi hotel would be attended by top politicians within and outside Kenya, including Kenya’s third president, Uhuru Kenyatta; South African Economic Freedom Front (EFF) supremo Julius Malema; presidential aspirants Fred Matiang’i and People’s Liberation Party Leader Martha Karua; Eugene Wamalwa, and Kalonzo Musyoka among others.
The foregoing comes after the party postponed its official launch, which was initially scheduled for June 3, 2025, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.
Deputy party leader Cleophas Malala, while addressing the press on Tuesday, June 3, stated that the venue management had abruptly cancelled the party’s planned launch.
However, in a fresh development, the deputy party leader has confirmed that the new dates have been settled on for later next month.
