The government has announced the immediate evacuation of Kenyans living in Israel and Iran, as the deadly conflict between the two countries continues to spiral into a full-scale regional crisis.

In a statement issued on Saturday, June 21, 2025, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs urged all Kenyan citizens currently residing in either country to register for emergency evacuation without delay.

The call comes just days after the government issued a formal safety advisory, warning Kenyans in the Middle East to exercise extreme caution amid the ongoing hostilities.

“For your safety and to ensure we can assist you promptly in case of any emergency or distress, we kindly ask you to register your details with the State Department for Diaspora Affairs,” the statement read.

The Department provided a link to an official evacuation form via its online platform, encouraging citizens to either fill it out or scan the QR code made available through the Kenyan Embassy in Tel Aviv’s official channels.

The move underscores the growing urgency facing foreign nationals trapped in the region, as Israel and Iran continue trading heavy missile and drone attacks with civilian infrastructure and urban areas increasingly caught in the crossfire.

Kenya joins a growing list of countries rushing to extract their citizens as fears mount over a potential wider regional war, which has already drawn in global powers and triggered widespread displacement across both nations.

While the exact number of Kenyans in Israel and Iran has not been disclosed, officials have confirmed that monitoring teams are on standby and that the government is working closely with embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran to coordinate a safe and timely exit for those affected.

Evacuation plans

The government has not revealed specifics about the evacuation routes or timelines.

However, sources suggest coordination is underway with international partners and humanitarian agencies to facilitate airlifts and overland convoys depending on the evolving security situation.

As of Saturday evening, no injuries or deaths of Kenyan nationals had been reported, but authorities said they were remaining vigilant and in close contact with both missions.

The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has reassured the public that it will continue providing updates as the situation unfolds and has urged all Kenyans with relatives in the region to stay informed and maintain contact with official diplomatic channels.
