Senior police officers from Nyanza have visited the home of the killed teacher and blogger, Albert Ojwang, to comfort his tragedy relatives following his death in the hands of police in Nairobi.

Led by the Nyanza Regional Police Commander, Freedom Nyamohanga, the officers gathered at a family residence in Kakoth Village, Kikwanyo, Kwakyo Small County in East Rachuonyo, where they gave and comfort their loved ones.
“We have come here on behalf of the national police service to mourn with this family and show that we are involved in their grief. Albert’s death has touched many of us, and we want to assure the family that we are committed to ensuring justice is done,” Said Nyamohanga.
The visit also included the contribution of various food products made to help the family during this mourning, while receiving many emerging guests to mourn their loved one.
“We know that many people have been flooding this settlement every day since the sad event. We hope that this little contribution will help families welcome visitors to the mourning,” he added.
Meshack Ojwang, the father of the deceased, has been welcoming guests since reports of Albert’s death, with friends, relatives and people affected arriving in large numbers, many of whom have food to help families.
Albert’s shocking death at a police station in Nairobi has sparked anger among citizens, amid the calls for accountability and transparency from security forces.
Human rights groups and the general public want a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to his death.

Within the last hours of Albert Ojwang
Ojwang was arrested as Homa Bay and later transferred to Nairobi, where he was brought to the Central Police Station on the evening of June 7.
According to Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, the blog arrived at 3:17 at night and was allowed to call his wife to inform him that he had arrived safely.
However, in the morning hours of June 8, officials found him unconscious inside the cell.
He was taken to Mbagathi Hospital at 7:39 at night, where he was confirmed he had already died.
A test of his body showed that he had severe injuries related to severe strokes, including head injuries, bleeding in the body and symptoms of stroke.
Following public concerns, Kanja announced that several officers, including the commander of the center, the officer’s officer that night and officers at the report desk, have been temporarily removed from work.
Meanwhile, IG apologized to the nation for a preliminary police statement claiming that Ojwang had hurt himself, which was found to be untrue.
