Ricardo Momo, the elder brother of Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz, has come out strongly to address swirling rumours that the singer and his partner, Zuchu, have already separated, just days after news of their Islamic wedding surfaced.
Speaking to YouTuber Carey Mastory on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Ricardo dismissed the ongoing online chatter as mere propaganda, criticising fans and gossipmongers for constantly shifting narratives whenever things do not suit their expectations.
Ricardo questioned the intentions of those who had previously criticised Diamond for not formalising his union with Zuchu, only to now claim that the couple had already parted ways after the wedding.
“Let us not be the kind of people who always choose to side with negativity. These same people who are now claiming they have broken up are the ones who were asking why Zuchu was not getting married.
“Now that she is married, they are shifting to divorce talk. That kind of behaviour must stop,” he said.

He affirmed that Diamond and Zuchu are deeply in love and fully committed to one another, adding that when two people have truly chosen love, there is nothing that can stand in their way.
Ricardo also defended Diamond’s public declaration that he had married Zuchu, reminding critics that unless someone close to the couple comes forward with verified information, claims of divorce remain baseless and unconfirmed.
“Diamond posted and said he had married her. Now, where is the evidence for divorce that these people are talking about? This is pure propaganda. Until someone close to them confirms it, people should not speak as if they were present or witnessed anything,” he stated.
He went further to caution that separation is never a simple matter, especially in a proper marriage. Drawing from his own experience as a married man, Ricardo stated that divorce is a legal and spiritual process that requires mutual agreement and should not be treated as casual speculation by the public.
“Breaking up is not something easy. We who are married understand that divorce is not a normal thing — it is a process. There must be agreement from both sides. In Islamic law, as stated in the Qur’an, divorce happens in stages — it is not immediate,” he said.
Ricardo’s defence of the couple comes in the wake of growing online claims that the relationship between Diamond and Zuchu had hit a rough patch, despite Diamond’s earlier post confirming that he had married her.
With no official statement from either Diamond or Zuchu regarding a breakup, Ricardo has urged fans to stop jumping to conclusions and allow the couple to enjoy their relationship in peace without unnecessary speculation or fabricated narratives.

Islamic wedding
Diamond Platnumz officially tied the knot with his longtime lover and fellow artiste Zuhura Othman, alias Zuchu, on June 1, 2025.
Diamond shared the exciting news with his fans through a series of photos on Instagram, accompanied by a long cryptic message. In his post, the Bongo Flava sensation spoke about the maturity of staying silent even when people speak falsely about you.
“One of the things I’ve learned is the maturity of remaining silent… This maturity requires a high level of patience. It demands you to have endurance, especially when someone or people falsely accuse you in public, while you know the truth but choose to stay quiet,” he wrote.
Adding;
“It is not easy, but the rewards are great, because your battles are fought by God, and you end up winning every time,” he noted.
“I know everyone has a different picture of Diamond Platnumz and marriage. But today, I want to tell you that Diamond Platnumz has been married before… and someday I’ll explain what happened,” he stated.
