Thursday blackout to affect Gachie hospital and parts of 3 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power blackout that will affect parts of Kiambu and three other counties on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

In a notice issued by Kenya Power on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the blackout will affect parts of the Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Homa Bay and Kilifi counties.

The outage, which is expected to affect activities that depend on electricity, is due to the planned system maintenance.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow, 19.06.2025,” Kenya Power announced.

Specific areas

In Kiambu County, customers in part of Gachie, Gichagi, Gacharage, Kihara market, Gachie Hospital, Karura ka Nyungu, Karura Kagongo, Karura ka Murimo, St. Tito Secondary School and adjacent customers will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Similarly, customers in Murera Sisal, Matangi-Ni, Hamundia, Theta, PCEA Matangi, Magomano, Ndarasha, Ndururumo, Ruiriro, Pherie, Mathitima, Karia, Ngomatubu, Cornerbrook, KPP Production, Space & Style, St. Dominic School, Mastores, Abba Salama, Chai Road, Kirathimo, Tumaini, Muhaka, Jujafarm market, Jujafarm Polytechnic, Gikumari, Air Harries kwa Mzungu, Nyumba ya Wazee, Mungetho Juja Farm, Wamuini, Zone P, Mwireri, and adjacent customers will also be affected by the planned blackout.

In Uasin Gishu, the 8:00 am to 5:00 pm planned blackout will affect parts of Outspan, Ancila, Rehema, Kabongo, Mugundoi, Songoliet, Cheplaskei and adjacent customers.

Meanwhile, in Homa Bay County, customers in Misambi Market, Oriang Parish, Bishop Linux Okok Girls, Nyapalo Market, Othoro Market, Kodada Centre, Pala Coffee, Atela Dispensary and adjacent customers will experience power interruption from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

According to the utility company, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect customers in Mshongoleni, Msabaha, Stage ya Mkikuyu, Kwachocha, Coast Boys, Malindi Hand Craft and adjacent customers.
