The family’s attorney, Julius Juma, said they needed to be protected from harm due to the seriousness of the issue.
“We want to be assured of our safety when we fight for justice for Albert Ojwang. Everyone on the family side, including me, feels hurt. He said.
The lawyer also noted that the family’s biggest concern was the possibility of interfering with the Witnesses.
“The Independent Police Operations Authority (IPOA) is currently interviewing witnesses at police stations in Nairobi and surrounding areas, and our main concern is the interference of evidence and the investigation process,” He said.
“I urge the investigation to be clear. All evidence should be protected and there should be no intervention of investigations or witnesses. The detective departments should do its job without pressure or foreign instructions,”
The lawyer’s request for a defense was made while Nairobi Police Officer Central, who was in turns on the night of Ojwang’s brutal murder, claiming that senior officers were involved in planning his torture. Constable James Mukhwana, a cell security guard, in his testimony to IPOA, said the Commissioner of Police (OCS), Samson Talaam, informed him of Ojwang’s arrival and ordered him to arrange other prisoners to beat him.
