Boniface Kariuki, who was innocent, was selling the protesters to the protesters when two police officers who had covered their faces suddenly attacked him and shot him in the head.
He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where he was taken directly to the surgery room.

Speaking after visiting her, John Kariuki, who is also a vendor, confirmed that her son was responding to treatment properly, thus protesting the statement that he had died from a shooting.
He was severely hurt by the brutal attack he went through his son in the hands of the police.
“My son is a vendor. I have raised this baby with many challenges, for I am also a vendor. He said.
Kariuki strongly condemned the brutal acts that police have been committing against civilians, urging them to comply with the law as they carry out their duties.
He called on the officer who shot his son to be brought to court.
He also appeared to ask for financial assistance for the treatment of his child, as the incident suddenly happened to him without financial preparation.
“I would like to ask the police to stop their brutality. It is not fair to attack an innocent person doing his job. It would be good if they were to carry out the law. All the police should be responsible, because even they are parents. He said.
How Boniface Kariuki was injured
Earlier, Boniface was thought to have died after losing consciousness when a police officer wearing a shooter during a #JusticeForalbertijangang protest.
In a very widespread video online, the boy was defending the pavement (a road embankment) when the angry officer, approached him quickly with a colleague and fired a shotgun with a view to terrorizing protesters.
Boniface, who was standing without moving, faced the police where one of them shot him and shot him in the head and escaped.
He fell to the ground with a deep bleeding while still holding the handle he was selling.
Nearby protesters ran to help him.
One of them was seen using a piece of clothing to try to prevent blood, before Boniface was taken to a nearby bliss medical center, and later transferred to KNH.
Kenyans joined through the #JusticeForBonifacekariuki campaign on X network, demanding accountability from the police.
Meanwhile, the officer who shot Boniface was arrested following an order by Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja.
