Roots Party leader and 2022 presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has claimed that Kenya Kwanza officials recently attempted to entice him into joining the government with grand promises of wealth, power, and land.
“Recently, the Ruto group offered me a lot of money. Some governor came to me and offered me to join with the promise of a CS position, and others have been telling me to join them with goodies that we shall send you a helicopter and give you a 150-acre parcel of land around Narok,” he disclosed.
Wajackoyah said he firmly rejected the offers, insisting he would only entertain such a proposal if it came directly from President William Ruto himself.
“I said no. Why? Who are you? Why can’t Ruto himself pick up his phone and call me over the same?” he added.
Reflecting on his political journey, Wajackoyah also shared his frustrations with the Azimio la Umoja coalition, where he felt unwelcome and overlooked.
“When I was with the Azimio Coalition, they did not want to listen to me. They saw me as inferior, and I was like a spectator following them around,” he said on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The outspoken politician said being sidelined, even as a former presidential candidate, prompted him to reevaluate his alliances.
Wajackoyah now stands independently as the Roots Party leader and says he will only consider coalitions that genuinely engage with his party’s vision.
“At the moment, I’m on my own as Roots Party, unless someone comes to talk to me about the party’s agenda. Why should I join? Our party has agreed that there is nothing wrong with joining a coalition as long as we agree on relevant issues,” he stated.
