Willis Otieno wants uon to release the CCTV of Albert Ojwang’s arrest

  • Advocate Willis Otieno has called on the University of Nairobi to release CCTV photos directed at the Central Police Station to shed light on the day that blogger Albert Ojwang was arrested
  • The University of Nairobi Student Association (UNSA) has called on the government
  • UNSA has warned the authorities that if justice is not done quickly, the youth will not remain silent, emphasizing that the war now represents all the students who are silenced, not only Ojwang

Advocate Willis Otieno has demanded that the University of Nairobi release CCTV photos of the day that blogger Albert Ojwang was arrested.

Ojwang was arrested and tortured to death inside the police station after allegedly accusing Deputy Inspector General Lagat of abuse of authority and corruption.

His body was transported to Mbagathi Hospital at 7pm and thirty -five minutes at night.

How can the University of Nairobi (UON) assist in the investigation of the Ojwang murder?

Otieno explained that “the campus security cameras are heading to the main gate of the police station”, and may have important evidence in the investigation of Ojwang’s death.

“This is your time to do the right thing. This is your time for Mbagathi,” Otieno urged, referring to the previous CCTV video of Mbagathi Hospital that revealed controversy in police statement about Ojwang’s death.

Otieno emphasized that CCTV images from UON could reveal important information such as who brought Ojwang to the center, when he arrived, and his physical condition at arrival.

“Give those videos. Give every frame, every second, every angle,” Otieno insisted, saying that the images could be the missing link in this case.

“Now, you have held the missing link,” he added.

UN STUDENTS PROVIDES RELIGIOUS RIGHTS FOR ALBERT OJWANG

At the same time, the University of Nairobi (UNSA) students issued a strong statement demanding immediate justice. In their letter, UNSA listed four key claims:

The immediate followed of the case of people planning the kidnapping and killing of Ojwang.

A clear and public investigation into the events that led to his death.

Right to the Ojwang family and equal responsibility for all involved, regardless of rank.

Lagat’s resignation, according to Kenyan youth claims.

In their strong statement, UNSA warned those in power that youth patience is limited.

“If justice is not given quickly and transparently, the violence will not ask for permission. We will not seek chaos, but we will not agree to live in fear,” The statement read.

UNSA emphasized that this struggle is no longer about Ojwang, but about every student and every boy who is silent.

“We will not forget. We will not go back. We will not be silenced,” They decided.

Other things you should know about Albert Ojwang’s death

Governor George Natembeya issued a note on what could happen at the police station when he died in Ojwang.

Coastal University students performed a candle rite in honor of Ojwang and four students who recently lost their lives.

Three prisoners allegedly hired to torture Ojwang to death were detained.

Why does lawyer Willis Otieno want Amin to be arrested?

Initially, the attorney accused the chief of DCI Mohamed Amin for lying under oath about Ojwang’s death circumstances.

He alleged that Amin misleaded Parliament by claiming that Ojwang was found alive in the cells of the police station at 7:35 pm, while a CCTV video from Mbagathi hospital showed police officers sending Ojwang already dead at the same time.

According to Otieno, this controversy reflects a deliberate lie that is similar to giving false evidence, blocking justice, abusing office, and directly involved in hiding murder.

He called on the government to arrest Amin immediately, to suspend him and to sue him, insisting that the person who violates the law cannot be trusted to defend it.
