Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has called for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be brought into the government, warning that excluding him would sideline the Kamba community.

Speaking at a political event in Machakos on Monday, June 16, 2025, Wandayi said the country is heading into a critical political season and cannot afford to leave out such a key bloc.

“We cannot afford a situation where Kenyans are heading into a serious political moment and the Kamba people are left behind. That would be unacceptable,” Wandayi declared.

The CS praised Kalonzo’s track record, calling him a respected national leader with a proven commitment to Kenya.

“Kalonzo has washed his hands, washed his face, and even washed his clothes, he is ready. He must be brought into the fold,” he added.

Unity before politics

Wandayi urged the government to embrace Kalonzo ahead of 2027, saying inclusivity is critical. He thanked the Kamba community for their loyalty, describing them as a key part of Kenya’s political fabric.

“The people of Kamba are our brothers. We must walk together as one united Kenya,” he said.

Kalonzo dismisses talks

But Kalonzo on Sunday, June 16, 2025, pushed back accusing the ruling alliance of insincerity. Speaking in Ngong’, he dismissed Kindiki’s efforts to woo him, branding the proposed “broad-based government” a “blood-based government.”

“I will work with the truthful man called Gachagua. I don’t believe this broad-based government is anything to follow. It is blood-based, and the latest addition is Albert Ojwang’,” Kalonzo said, referring to the late activist.

He accused Kindiki of failing to apologise for the Gen Z deaths and for Ojwang’s death under police custody, saying, “Let’s start there.”

Kindiki hits back

Kindiki responded by calling for respect in politics. While stating he had no issue with Kalonzo’s decision not to work with him, he warned against continued personal attacks.

“I hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me. But I won’t engage in public duels with people I respect,” Kindiki said on X. “If he continues, I will happily tackle him head-on.”
