Roots Party leader and 2022 presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has confirmed receiving overtures from the Kenya Kwanza to join the government.

The politician says the offer came laden with goodies of economic and financial value, including the position of a cabinet secretary in the current regime.

Wajackoyah made the revelation during a telling live TV interview on Monday, June 16, 2025.

“Recently, the Ruto group offered me a lot of money. Some governor came to me and offered me to join with the promise of a CS position, and others have been telling me to join them with goodies that we shall send you a helicopter and give you a 150-acre parcel of land around Narok,” he stated.

He says he refused the advances, stating that the president should take it upon himself to reach out.

“I said no. Why? Who are you? Why can’t Ruto himself pick up his phone and call me over the same?’ he stated.

The politician also opened up on being at liberty to join up with like partners after revealing being sidelined by the Azimio coalition members.

“At the moment, I’m on my own as Roots Party, unless someone comes to talk to me about the party’s agenda. Why should I join? Our party has agreed that there is nothing wrong with joining a coalition as long as we agree on relevant issues,” he said.

The politician’s claims come after Kalonzo Musyoka, a partner in the opposition outfit, also dismissed advances to join the government.

In a statement on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Kalaonzo quashed any possibilities of working with the government.

Kalonzo dismissed the approach as insincere and politically calculated.

“I will never work with this blood-based regime,” Kalonzo wrote on his own X account on Sunday, June 15, 2025. “Let no one be misled by those peddling falsehoods and attempting to use my name to sanitise injustice.”

“This is all diversionary and a poor attempt to divide the United Opposition,” Kalonzo stated. “I cannot work with or meet up with people with Gen Z blood on their hands.”

Meanwhile, Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has chided the government over its continued wooing of Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Mulu says the people targeting the Wiper leader are only keen on destabilising the union in the opposition outfit.

\“These are deliberate moves to get Kalonzo out of the coalition in opposition and create mistrust. Kalonzo is determined to remain in the opposition and will not join the broad-based system. We have seen them from afar. He has said that there is nothing they can do to get him to join this government,” he added.
