Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that President William Ruto controls some of the political parties in the Mount Kenya Region.
Speaking at a local radio station on Monday, June 16, 2025, Gachagua stated that William Kabogo’s Tujibebe Wakenya Party, Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party, and Moses Kuria’s dissolved Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) parties are controlled by the head of state.
He has discouraged Kenyans from joining the three parties, saying it is President Ruto’s strategy to split the Mt Kenya votes.
“William Kabogo’s party, Tujibebe, is actually controlled by the president, and I wouldn’t want anyone to join it. The same goes for Moses Kuria and Kiunjuri’s parties. President Ruto is behind the creation of many of these parties,” he stated.
Furthermore, he has revealed that the head of state plans to launch other parties in Murang’a and Nakuru counties.
“In fact, he’s (President William Ruto) planning to launch another one in Murang’a with its own flagbearer, just to split the Murang’a vote. There’s also a similar plan in Nakuru,” he added.

Furthermore, he revealed that the Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP) is the party from the Mt Kenya region that the president dislikes, following its denial of the Kasarani stadium for the official launch.
“It was William Ruto who denied us access to Kasarani Stadium for the launch of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP). “This is the party he clearly dislikes most from Mt. Kenya,” he stated.
Gachagua stated that the party was ready to pay the requested amount to hold the event at the stadium, but they were later informed to look for an alternative in an alternative location.
“We had planned a major event at Kasarani and had already booked the stadium for our June 4th launch. However, our team was later informed that holding the event there on that date would not be possible,” he stated.
His remarks come hours after Moses Kuria, who currently serves as a senior advisor to President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), hinted that he could be on his way to join the Jubilee Party, a party he once served as a member of.
Kuria revealed his intentions on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in a post on X, accompanied by an image of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is currently the leader of the Jubilee Party.

This comes days after the outspoken politician congratulated Uhuru for gaining full control of the Jubilee party.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday, June 12, 2025, Kuria commended Uhuru for reclaiming leadership of the Jubilee Party, noting that as political tensions and divisions in Kenya intensify, the party, under his leadership, has a crucial role in maintaining national unity and ensuring the country’s stability.
“Congratulations, my senior brother, President Uhuru Kenyatta, for winning back control of the Jubilee Party. At a time when there is a competition, competition to burn Kenya through escalation, emotions, and divisions, the Jubilee Party under your stewardship has a major role to play in keeping Kenya safe. “The future is luminous,” Kuria stated.
