Saboti constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has urged Meshack Ojwang’ Opiyo, the father of the slain teacher Albert Ojwang’, to reject political exploitation.

Taking to his official X account on the night of Monday, June 16, 2025, Amisi advised Opiyo to avoid availing himself to what he termed as political machinations, political vultures, and state-sponsored narratives, which he says are aimed at calming the rage of Kenyans.

“To #AlbertOjwang’s father, first, receive my condolences for the loss once again. Secondly, avoid availing yourself to political machinations, political vultures and state-sponsored narratives aimed at calming the rage of Kenyans,” Amisi stated.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker went ahead to state that there is no amount of money, promises, jobs, houses, wives, and other lies that could help return Albert to the world.

Amisi further advised the deceased’s father to mourn his son in private and keep off the media and politicians for the sake of the respect he had for his son.

“No amount of money, promises, jobs, houses, wives, and other lies can return your son to this world. You loved your son. Mourn him and keep off the media and politicians; do this for the respect of your son. God shall provide the rest. He never leaves his people; I can assure you of this. Kenya needs a renaissance!” Amisi wrote on X.

Ruto and Raila donations

Amisi’s remarks come hours after President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga jointly donated Ksh3 million to the family of the late Albert Ojwang.

President Ruto contributed Ksh2 million, while Odinga donated Ksh1 million.

The donations were presented to the bereaved family on Monday, June 16, 2025, by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga during her visit to their rural home.

“President Ruto and the ODM leader are so deeply touched and perturbed by the death. They have told me to bring their sincere condolences and prayers for the family, friends, and relatives to overcome the loss,” Wanga stated.

“Agwambo has sent you one million. Our President William Ruto has also sent two million,” Wanga declared, standing beside Ojwang’s father.

Wanga’s pledge

She called for patience as investigations into Albert Ojwang’s murder intensify.

“They assured me that the culprits would be brought to book,” the governor added.

In addition to delivering financial support, Governor Wanga also announced that her office would facilitate the construction of a two-bedroom house for the family.

The house is estimated to cost Ksh1.5 million.
