- A survey by the IPOA commission revealed that Talaam was repeatedly speaking to senior suspects and allegedly coordinated efforts to hide the truth in conflict with CCTV images
- Despite being seen in court, Talaam had previously promised to cooperate with the IPOA investigation into the killings that sparked outrage across the country
Commander (OCS) at Central Police Station, Samson Talaam, on Monday, June 16, was brought to court on charges of involvement in the brutal killing of blogger Albert Ojwang.
Ojwang was found dead in a pool of blood at the police station cell, with an investigation revealed that he was tortured, allegedly attacked by prisoners assigned to the responsibility.
The independent authority to oversee the police performance (IPOA) told the court that Talam, who had previously claimed he was not at work on the night of the incident, was speaking regularly with people inside and outside the police station before, during, and after the crime.
IPOA suspects that these communications were important in planning the attack and providing information to those involved about the progress and consequences of the incident.
Detectives also revealed that Talam is suspected of direct involvement in hiding the fact by destroying the CCTV camera system to hide what happened on the night of 7 to 8 June 2025.

During a court session, Talam was seen with severe depression.
The pictures showed him sitting with his face full of sadness; Sometimes he seemed to look down with sadness and sometimes just looking at it, as if he had been overwhelmed with the situation.
Despite serious allegations in a case that has sparked anger across the country, Talam promised to continue to cooperate and assist the IPOA in ongoing investigations.
The officer was suspended by the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, while IPOA launched an investigation following the brutal killings in his police station.
