Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has come out to celebrate being a first-time father by penning an emotional message to Kenyans as they marked Father’s Day, joining other leaders in commemorating the occasion.

In a statement released on his social media platforms on Sunday, June 15, 2025, the new dad expressed the joy of becoming a father for the first time, saying that the experience has rekindled in him a renewed sense of duty to his family, his children, and the nation at large.

“Today, being #FathersDay2025, I greet you not only as your elected representative but also, for the very first time, as a proud new father. This personally has rekindled within me a deeper sense of duty—to my family, to our children, and to the great nation we call home. He went on to acknowledge the silent sacrifices, the strength, and the enduring love demonstrated by Kenyan fathers who rise every morning to safeguard their families,” Salasya stated.

Salasya also recognised the efforts and energy fathers invest in building the nation. He stated that fatherhood, to him, has become more than just a title.

It has given him a deeper understanding of responsibility, pushing him to serve with conviction and integrity. He added that it has inspired him to envision a country where no child is left behind.

“I salute every father who, with grace and grit, builds homes, communities, and a nation brick by brick. Fatherhood, to me, is not merely a title; it is a profound responsibility. It is a summons to lead with conviction, to serve with integrity, and to envision a Kenya where no child is left behind,” he added.

He affirmed that, having now become a father, he stands before Kenyans not only as a leader but also as a parent, constantly reminded that the struggle for a better tomorrow begins within the household before it reaches the highest offices in the land.

Salasya went on to announce his presidential ambitions for the 2027 general elections, stating that his desire to lead is not driven by personal ambition but by a strong conviction that Kenya deserves leadership rooted in empathy, equity, and action.

He wished all fathers prosperity in every step they take.

“I wish you happiness and prosperity every step of the way. May you prosper and be happy today and always,” he added.
