Multitalented comedian and humanitarian activist Eric Omondi has penned an emotional Father’s Day tribute to his late brother Fred on the first anniversary of his passing.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Eric described Fred as a legend and promised that they would honour his memory, expressing hope for a brighter future.
“Today marks exactly one year since we lost a LEGEND. We will make you proud. Tomorrow is a better day. I choose to celebrate you this Father’s Day, Juu wewe ni Baba Yao,” Eric wrote.
Eric Omondi vowed that as Fred rests, they will not rest until they see a better day for themselves, their children, and future generations
“As you rest, we will not rest until we see a better day for ourselves, our children and generations to come,” he added.
Fred’s death
Fred lost his life in a road accident in Nairobi early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024.
Eric confirmed his brother’s death through a post on social media where he shared a video of the deceased and himself.
“Go well, brother. 💔🕊 @fredomondi_,” Eric Omondi wrote.
He was laid to rest in his rural home in Sega, Siaya County, on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The burial event was attended by hundreds of mourners, including politicians and celebrities.
Ruto’s message
President William Ruto led the country in paying tribute to fathers, describing them as silent heroes whose steadfast strength, quiet sacrifice, and enduring presence form the bedrock of family and society.
In his Father’s Day message issued on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Ruto acknowledged the often unnoticed yet deeply profound role that fathers play in shaping values and anchoring households through life’s many seasons.
“Today, we honour all fathers, the silent heroes who protect, provide, and nurture the foundation of our families. Fathers shape values, model resilience, and offer steadfast support through life’s seasons,” he remarked, commending the moral leadership and emotional refuge that many fathers provide within their homes,” the president said.
The president extended gratitude to fathers who, through daily acts of love and labour, are helping to raise stable homes and stronger, more cohesive societies.
“In their hands, children find safety. In their presence, families prosper. Through their sacrifice, communities stand strong. To every father building stable homes and stronger societies, we thank you, and we celebrate you. May God bless all fathers, and happy Father’s Day,” he stated.
