Busia County Senator Okiyah Omtatah has demanded the ouster of the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, after CCTV footage from Mbagathi Hospital emerged, showing the moment Albert Ojwang was taken to the facility.

Taking to his official X account on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at about midnight, Omtatah stated that Amin had lied under oath and that Ojwang was in a police cell at that exact time the CCTV captured his lifeless body at Mbagathi Hospital.

He termed DCI Amin’s action as not only incompetence but also premeditated murder.

“ALBERT OJWANG WAS MURDERED. AND THEY LIED. At 1:35 am, CCTV footage from Mbagathi Hospital, aired by @citizentvkenya, confirmed Albert Ojwang was already dead. Yet DCI Boss Mohamed Amin claimed he was in a police cell at that exact time. This isn’t incompetence. It’s premeditated murder,” Omtatah stated.

Cover-up

According to Omtatah, Ojwang’s murder was a state-sanctioned execution, disguised with forged OB entries, fake medical reports, and a coordinated cover-up.

He now says that Amin must be removed from office for lying to the whole nation.

“A state-sanctioned execution, disguised with forged OB entries, fake medical reports, and a coordinated cover-up. They thought they could silence him quietly. They thought Kenyans wouldn’t care. They were wrong. We demand the immediate arrest of all officers involved. And yes, @DCI_Kenya Director Mohamed Amin must go. You don’t lie to a nation and walk free. Who ordered this? Who covers up these killings? How many more must die before something changes? We’re not pleading. We’re demanding. Albert Ojwang’s blood cries out for justice. And this time, we will not back down,” he stated.

Mbagathi CCTV

In CCTV footage obtained by a local media outlet on Saturday, June 14, 2025, a police vehicle was seen entering Mbagathi Hospital at 1:35 a.m. Three officers then emerged from the vehicle, and two of them engaged in a brief conversation before walking towards the casualty section of the health facility.

During this time, Ojwang was still at the back of the vehicle, unattended. The officers then reappeared at 1:37 am while making phone calls.

From the footage, the officers took close to 20 minutes before wheeling Ojwang into the hospital while covered in white sheets.

The officers, whose identity has not been established, then spent another 10 minutes in the casualty section after taking Ojwang to the hospital.

At 2:11 am, they wheeled out the body.
