When was Michael Joseph’s last day in KQ?
The national service provider announced Joseph’s departure from a notice on Saturday, June 14.
The statement was made in accordance with the principles of the offer, the listing and exploration of the 2023 capital market, proclaimed under the Capital Markets Act.
“Kenya Airways PLC (” KQ “) Board of Directors announces the retirement of Michael Joseph as the director and chairman of the company’s board, starting on Friday, June 13, 2025, after serving hard on the board for nine years. Joseph joined the Kenya Airways PLC board in 2016,” KQ said.
What did Joseph succeed as chairman of KQ?
The airline stated that Joseph served with respect, diligence, and dedication during his ownership.
He led the board and company successfully through several re -planning, a period of turmoil of Covid-19and its strategy of change.
The strategy led to the historic changes of the airline, a record of general profits in 2024, and greater growth of passengers and luggage, re -confiring to stakeholders and shareholders possibly business operations.

On January 6, 2025, Joseph oversaw the re -opening of the KQ stock trade in the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE), as well as the exchange of securities in Uganda and Tanzania.
“When I take the place of the chair, the main thing was to restore the airline’s status and help develop a sustainable strategy for the future. There have been many steps on this journey, good and bad, so with great thanks I can proudly say the fruits of the efforts we have been putting on,” Joseph explained.
How much did Joseph get as chairman of KQ?
The annual KQ report of 2024 revealed that Joseph was paid KSh 18,225,000 in the financial year of 2024.
This means an average of KSh 1.52 million per month.
In the 2023 financial year, Joseph took KSh 18 million, equivalent to a monthly payment of KSh 1.5 million.

In related information, the telecommunications company of Safaricom It announced Joseph’s withdrawal from the company on August 1, 2023.

He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and also served as the Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the various Committees.
