Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a plea to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, urging him to remain vigilant and avoid being swayed by politicians promoting division.

Speaking while in Machakos County, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Kindiki referred to Kalonzo as a close family member.

“Na mimi nataka wasimpotoshe huyu mweshimiwa Kalonzo… hawajui Kalonzo kwangu sio cousin, ni my brother, namuheshimu,” he said.

Translation: “I don’t want them to mislead Honourable Kalonzo… they don’t know that Kalonzo is not only my cousin, he is my brother, and I respect him.”

Kindiki warned that some individuals are trying to deceive Kalonzo by flattering him with terms like cousin to pull him into their schemes. He accused these people of hypocrisy.

“Hawa watu wanaokuja kumdanganya hapa ni wale waliokuwa wakitukana Wakamba,” he said.

Translation: “These people coming to deceive him are the same ones who were insulting the Kamba.”

He suggested that these individuals, who once disrespected the Kamba community, are now pretending to be allies to serve their own interests. Kindiki stressed that such tactics aim to divide Kenyans along tribal lines, something he believes Kalonzo, a principled leader, would reject.

“Yule anachaguliwa anaserve everybody,” Kindiki said, emphasising the role of a true leader.

Translation: “The one who is elected serves everybody.”

He urged Kalonzo to stay above divisive politics and focus on uniting the nation. Kindiki expressed concern that some are trying to drag Kalonzo into a brand of politics that does not suit him.

“Asiingishwe kwa siasa ambaye sio type yake ya matusi na ukabila na uchochezi.”

Translation: “He should not be drawn into politics that involves insults, tribalism, and provocation.”

He praised Kalonzo’s credentials as a lawyer and his contributions to Kenya.

“Kalonzo ni wakili, na mahali amefikisha jamii na taifa letu la Kenya.”

Translation: “Kalonzo is a lawyer, and the place he has brought our community and our nation Kenya.”

“Mkiona ndugu yangu Kalonzo, mwambie vile ndugu yake mdogo amesema. Mwambie achunge sana,” the DP added.

Translation: “When you see my brother Kalonzo, tell him what his younger brother has said. Tell him to be very careful.”

He urged Kalonzo to remain cautious and not allow those who do not genuinely care for him to lead him astray.

“Hatuwezi kubali apotoshwe na watu ambao hawampendi.”

Translation: “We cannot allow him to be misled by people who do not love him.”

Instead, Kindiki encouraged Kalonzo to continue mentoring young Kenyans and fostering national unity.
