Gospel singer and media personality Joyce Omondi has surprised her husband, renowned TV journalist Waihiga Mwaura, with a cake at his workplace as he marked the occasion of turning a year older.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Joyce offered her followers a glimpse into the wholesome moment when she quietly appeared at Waihiga’s newsroom desk and playfully unveiled the cake right in front of his face, leaving him jumping with joy.

The entire surprise began with Joyce alighting from her car, where she picked up the cake from the seat and made her way into the office, walking in with the soft suspense of a secret mission.

Upon entering, Waihiga was seated and appeared to be engrossed in something on his desktop and did not notice Joyce’s arrival until she was already standing beside him.

He immediately rose to his feet and gave her a heartfelt hug before joining in a cheerful dance as his colleagues broke into a jubilant chorus of birthday tunes.

The joyous couple then cut into the white frosted cake, which had been adorned with chocolate biscuits on its crown, and shared it generously with the rest of Waihiga’s colleagues, who were visibly excited to take part in the surprise.

At that moment, some of the excited colleagues could be heard saying how moving it was to witness someone being so lovingly cherished, while others continued to sing the birthday song in the background.

Doting husband

In another part of the Instagram video, Joyce was captured alongside Waihiga in other sections of the office as she continued to teasingly celebrate the fact that he had officially turned a year older.

They also recorded a snippet from a dressing room where Waihiga could be seen casually posing in the background, his face lit with birthday glow.

In the video caption, Joyce went on to thank Waihiga’s colleagues who had participated in the surprise and expressed just how thrilled she was to have done something special for the man she treasures.

“It is my man’s birthday; cheers to the amazing colleagues,” she posted.

Another birthday

At the same time Joyce was orchestrating the heart-melting birthday surprise for her husband, fellow media personality Betty Kyallo was, on the other hand, also serenading her Gen Z spouse with warm tributes for likewise having marked another trip around the sun.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Betty celebrated their love by sharing adorable photos of them and a heartfelt caption that gave fans a glimpse into their two-year relationship, which has been full of laughter, support, and affection, according to the celebrated TV personality.

Betty described Charlie as a blessing in her life, calling him a loving and helpful partner who’s brought joy and fun into her world.

“It’s my man’s birthday today! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I want to first thank God for you, @charliemny. You’ve been a great, beautiful blessing to me for almost 2 years now!!!! Can you imagine? You’re a wonderful man. “A partner who’s ever so loving and helpful,” she shared.

She playfully mentioned how excited she gets when his football team wins, because it usually means a good night for her. She even joked about how Charlie’s gangster accent won her over from the first day they met.

Betty laughed about how Charlie always hypes her up when taking her to work but also mocks her, albeit lovingly, when she mispronounces words or shrub names. She also shared that he often pokes fun at her crooked smile, which resulted from a past accident, adding that his dark humour, though sometimes ruthless, still endears him to her.

“Well, sometimes… too much fun! I love it when your team wins any match, because I know I’m gonna have a good night 😉😉😉. and “I’ll never walk alone” … 🤭😅😅😅 I love that gangsta accent of yours. Bruh, you used it against me from the very first day! Cmon! 😅😅” Kyallo shared.

Adding;

“I love when you take me to work and hype me up, but also when you look at me weird and laugh rudely and hysterically when I shrub a name. 😅😅😅”
