Celebrated music producer and reality TV judge Motif the Don has sparked a social media firestorm after delivering a brutally honest critique of upcoming musicians.
Motif’s brute comment was delivered during the latest episode of the Next Super Star talent show, leaving fans and fellow judges reeling.
The outspoken hitmaker, known for his no-nonsense approach and chart-topping production work, was not impressed by one contestant’s vocal performance during rehearsals.
In a now-viral moment, Motif simply declared, “Voice haiko ready for this audition bro, tuonane next time.”
The remark, captured on Startimes’ Remo TV on Friday, June 13, 2025, and shared widely across TikTok, Instagram, and X, has ignited a flurry of online reactions — from memes and duets to sharp debates over the limits of tough love in talent shows.
Audience members were left stunned, and so were Motif’s co-judges — gospel artist Size 8 and rapper King Kaka — as silence briefly filled the room after the comment.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Motif doubled down on his blunt feedback throughout the show, taking aim at another contestant’s stage presence: “At least work on your charisma, manzee. Uache kusimama hapo still.”

And in another jab that has since been turned into dozens of TikTok memes: “Huyu alikuwa serious? Hizo ni nini hizo? Hapa hatuko drama!”
While some fans applauded Motif for bringing back “real” feedback to Kenya’s reality TV, others felt his delivery lacked empathy.
“That’s not mentorship, that’s mockery,” wrote one viewer on X.
“Motif is just being real. Not everyone’s ready for the stage!” countered another.
The drama has reignited comparisons between Motif and Judge Ian Mbugua, the former Tusker Project Fame icon known for his icy critiques and raised eyebrows.
