Kesses MP Julius Ruto has come out strongly in support of President William Ruto and Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi amid heightened public interest in the 2025/26 national budget.
Speaking during an interview aired on K24 TV on June 13, 2025, the MP expressed confidence in the leadership of both President Ruto and CS Mbadi, saying their intentions are aligned with the needs of the Kenyan people.
“I have no doubt about the leadership of John Mbadi, and I have no doubt in the regime of President William Ruto. They mean well for the people,” he said.
This comes amid John Mbadi presenting his first-ever national budget as Treasury Cabinet Secretary on June 12, 2025, at Parliament, as he outlined the government’s Ksh4 trillion spending plan focused on economic recovery, education, and fiscal consolidation.

His remarks come at a time when the country is keenly watching how the government plans to address economic challenges, with the latest budget proposals drawing both support and criticism.
Also, as the country grapples with questions around the Ksh4 trillion budget, he noted, particularly the Ksh702 billion allocated to education, the highest of any sector.
While the government frames the move as a deliberate investment in the nation’s future, critics have raised concerns over cuts in agriculture, ICT, and social protection, calling for a more balanced approach.
Ruto, in his sentiments, noted with concern that with the education sector emerging as the top beneficiary with an allocation of Ksh 702 billion, it signals a renewed focus on human capital development.
“Education getting the largest share of the budget is a clear indication of our commitment to the future of our children,” said Ruto, praising the prioritisation of key social sectors.
Ruto’s backing is also seen as a vote of confidence in the president’s leadership following 2024, which saw widespread protests, a major cabinet shake-up, and the resignation of the police chief.
The MP’s statement reinforces the administration’s message of reform, accountability, and inclusive development, as the government looks to rebuild public trust and stabilise the economy.
Ruto’s stance reinforces President Ruto’s bottom-up economic agenda, a vision built on lifting grassroots communities through strategic, people-centred planning.
