Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) George Peter Kaluma has issued a comprehensive set of demands aimed at ensuring full transparency and accountability in the handling of the case involving the death of the X influencer, Albert Omondi Ojwang.
In a statement shared on the night of Thursday, June 12, 2025, Kaluma said the immediate disclosure of service numbers for all officers involved, including those who made the arrest and the officer in charge of the police station (OCS), was necessary.
In addition to the disclosure of the service number, Kaluma also demanded that all relevant documents and records, such as Occurrence Book (OB) entries, be made available and preserved permanently to guard against any future claims of interference or tampering, and that there should be a clear explanation regarding the involvement of officers who were not part of the original investigation team, including when they were brought in and what roles they played.
“The immediate disclosure of service numbers for all officers involved in this matter, including the arresting officers and the OCS,” Kaluma demanded.
“All relevant documents and records, such as OB entries, should be made available and preserved permanently to guard against any future claims of interference or tampering. Clear explanation regarding the involvement of officers who were not part of the original investigation team, when they were brought in and what roles they played.”

The vocal parliamentarian said the names of the officers who escorted Ojwang to Nairobi should be made public, stressing the importance of identifying those involved.
He also demanded information on exactly who handed the deceased over at the police station, emphasising the need for complete clarity in the transfer process.
“Which officers escorted Albert to Nairobi, and information on who exactly handed Albert over to the police station?” he stated.
Kaluma on investigations
Kaluma further said that he seeks clarity on who is leading the murder investigation, pointing out that the case has two components, a criminal probe into Ojwang’s death and a separate investigation into police conduct.
Additionally, he also demanded to know whether the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is handling both investigations or if responsibilities are being shared with the police and to what extent.
“Clarity on who is leading the murder investigation since this case has two components: a criminal investigation into Albert’s death and an investigation into police conduct. Is IPOA handling both, or are duties being shared with the police, and to what extent?” he added.
“All those involved must face the full force of the law, while innocent individuals must not be wrongfully implicated,” he demanded.
His demands come amid nationwide outrage over the circumstances of Ojwang’s death in police custody.
